Mission Statement

The Northwest Alliance unites community leaders from Flanders, Riverside and Northampton in their quest to promote social relations in the community, to discuss the issues concerning our Hamlets and to improve on services for the community.

Creation Of The Alliance

Our three hamlets of Flanders Riverside and Northampton are faced with unique situations that are not seen in other parts of Southampton Township. One such situation is the geographical boundaries that send our children to the Riverhead Central School District and boundaries that separate our Fire Department services to Riverhead and Flanders. We live in Southampton but use Riverheads Zip Code (11901).The Riverhead County Jail and Riverhead County Center is located in Southampton Township. Even one of the oldest clubs in Flanders (The Flanders Men’s Club) has only a few area residents as its members. The neglect from our Town government over the last 50 years has forced difficult living situations on us all.

The community needs a collaborated effort to design the upcoming Parks and plan the return of the Big Duck that is slated for our area. The community needs to sponsor fun activities like carnivals, fairs and concerts that other communities enjoy.

In August of 2004 the Flanders Riverside and Northampton community association sent invitations to various Community leaders inviting them to a round table gathering on September 24^th 2004. Located at the David Crohan Nutrition Center in Flanders. During the meeting it was voiced to the group that the larger the group, the louder the voice and we will be heard.   It was then the group decided to unite.

We meet the third Monday, of every other month till things warrant a change. The meetings are not open to the public and various speakers will be invited time to time to address local issues that concern our community.
