Organizational Meeting
February 25, 2002
Prepared by Mary Anne Corwin
An organizational meeting was held on February 25, 2002, at the Riverhead Free Library.

Approximately 25 people were in attendance, made up of residents of the Flanders, Riverside and Northampton hamlets.

The meeting commenced at approximately 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting was to organize residents and form an association for the betterment of the hamlets of Flanders, Riverside and Northampton.

After considerable discussion and several suggestions, it was decided by majority vote of the attending residents that the name of the association would be the "Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association, Inc."

A discussion was held concerning membership. It was decided that residents from each of the hamlets may apply for membership in the association and that membership may include homeowners, renters, taxpayers, and business owners in the communities.

It was suggested that we encourage active participating by organized groups and associations.

It was decided that interim dues would be $20; that the dues would be ratified or amended by the executive board members, once elected, and that membership forms would be prepared in time for the March meeting.

A discussion was held to encourage a diverse board that will be an accurate representation of the diverse nature of our community.

It was agreed that the bylaws would be prepared over the following week and would be presented to an attorney for review.

The meeting was adjourned at about 9 p.m.
