General Meeting Minutes

for October 24, 2005

Call to Order, Pledge, Roll Call:  The Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association General Meeting for October 24, 2005 was called to order at 7:00 PM by Michael Brewer.  Executive Board Members Michael Brewer, Glen Cerrato, Eugene Rausch, Laura Smith, Ellen Rausch, and Patty Hopkins were present.  Barbara Swislosky was absent.  A quorum was declared.

Old Minutes:  The minutes from September 26, 2005 were read.

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to accept the minutes with corrections.  Glen Cerrato seconded.  All were in favor. 

Treasurer’s Report:  The account balance as of September 30, 2005, is $15,862.52.

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to pay $440.00 for candle fundraiser.  Eugene Rausch seconded.  All were in favor.

            Motion made by Eugene Rausch to accept the report and pay all bills.  Michael Brewer seconded.  All were in favor.

 

Correspondence: 

  1. Letter from the County on the NYS Department of State qualifier for Community Grants needs review.
  2. Thank you for having a blood drive.  Next years date is July 20, 2006 from 4-9:30 here pending Town approval.
  3. Flanders Fire Department asked to be co-sponsor for next years blood drive.
  4. Aerator for Silverbrook Pond has been approved by the Town of Southampton Trustees.
  5. Senator Kenneth Lavalle secured $150,000.00 for Riverhead School District to reduce the tax rate.

 

Announcements made by Michael Brewer

  1. Disclosure Statements need to be prepared and Estimates for street banners.
  2. Holiday Party Tickets on sale for December 13, 2005 from 7 – 10PM.  $17.00 for members and $24.00 for non members.  One free bowling game included.
  3. Town will meet with committees for Iron Point Park and Big Duck. All suggestions are welcome.
  4. There is a petition to keep sex offenders off the street.
  5. Call Southampton Town Public Safety for any damage done by the storm.
  6. Youth in grades 9-12 will meet on Friday October 28 at Bridgehampton Community Center.
  7. Ellen Rausch has T-shirts and Sweatshirts for purchase.

 

Motion made by Michael Brewer to waive normal order of business in favor of our guest speakers.  Ellen Rausch seconded.  All were in favor.

 

Each speaker was given three (3) minutes for their introduction.  Three (3) pre-selected questions were given ahead of time and each candidate had three (3) minutes to answer.  The floor was opened to the General Membership for questions afterward.  The Candidates were given another three (3) minutes in closing statements.

Linda Kabot, Chris Nuzzi, Hank Beck and Michael Pitcher were running for Town of Southampton Town Council.

 

Incumbent Patrick Skip Heaney was again running for Town of Southampton Supervisor.  His opponent was unable to attend the evening.  Same format for this Candidate applied.

 

Motion made at 9:20 PM by Michael Brewer to return to our normal order of business.  Glen Cerrato seconded.  All were in favor.

 

Raffle:  Ellen Rausch won the 50/50 raffle for $52.50.

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to adjourn.  Glen Cerrato seconded.  All were in favor.
