General Meeting Minutes

Call to Order, Pledge, Roll Call:  The Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association General Meeting for February 28, 2005 was called to order at 7:15PM by Michael Brewer.  Executive Board Members, Michael Brewer, Lonaway Muldrow, Allen Perkowski and Patty Hopkins were present.  Janice J. Artandi, Ellen Rausch and Eugene Rausch were absent.  A quorum was declared.

 

Old Minutes:  Michael Brewer read the General Meeting Minutes from October 25, 2004.

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to accept the minutes with corrections.  Allen Perkowski seconded.  All were in favor. 

                        Michael Brewer read the General Meeting Minutes from November 22, 2004.

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to accept the minutes with corrections.  Lonaway Muldrow seconded.  All were in favor.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Michael Brewer reported that as of 12/31/2004 the balance was $10,423.28. 

            Motion made by Allen Perkowski to accept the Treasurer’s report and to pay all bills.  Lonaway Muldrow seconded.  All were in favor. 

 

Committee Reports:  The Audit Committee comprising of Connie Barrows, Eugene Rausch and Barbara Swislosky met on January 18, 2005.  The audit included reconciliation of deposits made, against revenues received through December 2004.  No recommendations made at this time.

The By-Law changes and amendments were postponed due to small general attendance.

Michael summarized some town hall reports.  Copies are on file.

Nominating Committee Chair Allen Perkowski is looking for those wishing to run for a board position.  All other committee reports waived at this time.

 

Correspondence:  

~A letter was received from Flanders Little League President, Fran Cobb, thanking FRNCA for the donations of $53.50 from the October 2004 50/50 raffle winner Allen Perkowski, and $20.00 from Michael Brewer. 

~Michael Brewer sent a letter to the Burlington Coat Factory thanking them for the 10% discount off the final purchase price for the children’s coats for the needy families at Phillips Avenue School.

~A thank you letter was received from Interim Principal of Phillips Avenue School, Charles Venezia for the donation of coats to students in need.

~A letter was sent to Town of Southampton opposing Cottage Housing in our Hamlets.

~Michael Brewer read a resolution announcing the Ad Hoc Committee Members for the Riverside Area Blight Study.

~Residents earning less than $125,000 are requested to fill out a Housing Registry Application if they are seeking affordable housing and/or loans for housing or any other assistance.

~A card was sent to FRNCA member Ruby Edwards on the recent death of her son, Stanley Gilbert.

~At the recommendation of Charles A. Gargano, Chairman of the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) $2,000.00 has been approved (contingent upon the availability of funds) for the FRNCA 007 Project #T047(children’s playground).  More paperwork needed to be processed.

 

 

Old Business

~Thank you to all who came and helped to make the Big Duck lighting a success, especially, Bay View Pines Association, Janice Flood and Northampton Community Association for their donations to the winning essay writers.    

~The Holiday Party held at Wildwood Bowl was a great success.  Everyone had a good time.

~Peconic Health & Racquet Club is for sale.  Possibly the towns Parks and Recreation Department would be interested in the location.  Dave Brewer said a pool was going in at Grabeski Airport.  No other information at this time.

~LI40 town project – light industrial use allowed in that area. Michael had a planning map.  Five Towns College purchase two (2) lots (they own the radio tower).

 

New Business

~The next Northwest Alliance meeting is at the David Crohan Nutrition Center at 7 PM on 3/21/2005.

~New FRNCA member Glen Cerrato stated that his company will donate for items needed for children in need at Phillips Avenue School.

~The health of FRNCA member Robert Brown was in question.  More information was needed.

~Cottage Housing – update at next meeting…..all West of the canal…….6 units per acre. 

~The Great East End Clean Up is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2005 from 9 – 12.  See Barbara Swislosky or Patty Hopkins for information.

~Michael’s Raffle, for the proceeds to be donated to special FRNCA events approved.

~Barbara Swislosky introduced a fundraiser called Casino Night.  FRNCA would receive 25% of the proceeds plus whatever we wish to charge at the door.  The host of Casino Night is Wildwood Bowl and it will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2005.  We are asked to have at least 100 people over the age of 21 to attend.

           

            Motion made by Michael Brewer for the Association to look into this Casino Night a little further subject to Executive Board final approval.  Lonaway Muldrow seconded.  All were in favor.  David Brewer stated upon approval, see if we need a hold harmless clause and indemnification paper.  A letter of beneficiary needs to be submitted to Wildwood Bowl.

 

Raffle/Adjournment:  The 50/50 raffle winner of $7.50 was Beverly Perkowski. 

  

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to adjourn.  David Brewer seconded.  All were in favor.
