General Meeting Minutes

Call to Order, Pledge, Roll Call:  The Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association Meeting for April 24th  was called to order at 7:10 PM by Michael Brewer.  Executive Board Members Michael Brewer, Glen Cerrato, Eugene Rausch, Laura Smith, Barbara Swislosky, Ellen Rausch and Patty Hopkins were present.  A quorum was declared.

 

Old Minutes:  The minutes from March 2006 were read.

 

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to accept the minutes with corrections.  Ellen Rausch seconded.  All were in favor.  At your request, copies of all previous minutes can be made available through the Secretary.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Eugene Rausch reported a balance of $16,636.94 as of March 31, 2006.

 

            Motion was made by Michael Brewer to the executive board by telephone to purchase a tripod easel and board.  Motion was ok’d by four board members.

 

            Motion made by Michael Brewer to accept the treasurers report and to pay all bills.  Glen Cerrato seconded.  All were in favor.

 

Nominations were conducted by Laura Smith and committee members, Allen Perkowski and Lonaway Muldrow.  Michael Sacco accepted a nomination for Vice President. 

 

The following members were voted in as the 2006-2007 Executive Board positions:

Correspondence:   The FRNCA Scholarship winner will be announced at the next General Meeting pending first notification to all the applicants.

 

Committee Reports:

1.      The Omnibus Grant was vetoed.  No other information available at this time.

2.      Code Enforcement issues are presently on going.

3.      Ellen Rausch reported that School Board Member, Lori Montefusco is not running for re-election.  Timothy Griffin, Marie Tooker, Jim Senatore and Angela Devito are the candidates running.  The      top two vote getters get the two positions open.

4.      Discussions regarding the pluses and minuses of Little Flower will try to be arranged for a future                                                                                    meeting.  Children with special needs are mostly served by Little Flower.  

 

5.      Laura Smith reported that there were presently 119 members.  Thelma Sykes turned in a new application.  Joan Barrow went door to door.  The question asked was what is gong to increase membership for this year and what direction to take in the future for new memberships.  Michael
Brewer wanted to thank Janice J. Artandi for chairing the membership committee since the beginning of FRNCA in 2002.

6.      Michael Brewer presented a final drawing of the “Welcome to Riverside Sign”.  Michael initiated a discussion on where to place the second “Riverside” sign.  There are seven (7) “entrances” into the Riverside Hamlet.

 

Announcements

1.      Flanders Little League opening day is Saturday, April 29 starting at 9:45 AM.  All are welcome.

2.      Great East End Clean-up was a great success.  Thank you to all who participated.  The Town of Southampton “Adopt a Road Program” is open to everyone.  Michael Merker is our areas coordinator.

3.      The Group for the South Fork is sponsoring a Comedy Show on Saturday, May 6 at 8 PM.  Call 631-288-1500 for further information.

4.      PILOT program – Senator Kenneth Lavalle passed legislation for this program.  At this time, the Governor vetoed the legislation. 

5.      More information is needed on the “Long Island Last Stand”.

6.      The Flanders Fire Department will hold their annual Memorial Service at Flanders Memorial Park on May 7 at 4 PM.  All are invited to attend.

 

Old Business

1.      A show of hands from the membership allows Michael Brewer to look into the best prices for FRNCA banners.

2.      Ellen Rausch is checking into the cost of printing raffle tickets.  The raffles will sell as six (6) tickets for $5.00 each.  The raffle profits will go towards the FRNCA Scholarship Program and other FRNCA events.

New Business: 

1.      GEIS – General Environment Impact Statement…A letter regarding RV uses on the beaches in East Quogue on Dune Road to the Shinnecock Inlet in Hampton Bays is going to the town board meeting Tuesday, April 25th from the Southampton Civic Coalition.

2.      SEQRA – State Environmental Quality Review Act – since 1991 – only adjacent property owners had a say…Bill 2380.  Michael Brewer has a letter from Bob Deluca, President of the Group for the South Fork.  Michael Brewer will represent FRNCA.

3.      The LI-40 zone has not changed yet.  Presently zoned as light industry.  Michael Brewer stated the Planning and Zoning Boards are not going along with the wishes of the Hamlet Study Committee.  Why aren’t they?  Several new applications for sub divisions in our hamlets have recently been posted.

4.      Special Exception Use – Planning Board Meeting at Town Hall on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 7 PM.  The Northwest Alliance made up a petition against allowing special exception uses in our area.    All residents are urged to attend meeting.  A car pool will be announced. 

 

Raffle:  Ellen Rausch was the 50/50 winner of $51.00.
