General Meeting Minutes

Call to Order, Pledge, Roll Call: The Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association Meeting for September 25, 2006 was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Michael Brewer. Executive Board members Michael Brewer, Michael Sacco, Laura Smith, and Barbara Swislosky were present. A quorum was declared.
Old Minutes: The minutes from July 24, 2006 were read and a motion was made by Michael Brewer to accept the minutes without corrections, seconded by Michael Sacco.
Treasurer’s Report not available. Bills to be paid: SCWA, $16.83, LIPA, $12.63, Raffle tickets for Laura Smith, $105.51. A motion was made by Michael Brewer to pay all, second by Michael Sacco.
Guest speakers from Primerica, Ray Normoyle, Arlene Welsh, Kate Hannah, and Jerry Jones conducted an information presentation. Questions were fielded from the floor. FRNCA members and guests were invited to take advantage of complimentary financial services.
The next speakers were East End Rowing Club members from the Riverhead High School Rowing Team, Michelle Zaloom and Coach Al Borghard. Who spoke about the need for a shed, approximately 40 X 70 for boat storage, which would allow about one hundred people to row at the same time. Questions from the floor included a possible incentive for area residents (children) to join. Adult members cost is $150.00.
Motion made by Michael Brewer at 8:15 p.m. to return to normal business, seconded by Michael Sacco.

Announcements:
Flanders Fire Department donation to FRNCA Scholarship program from Long Island Blood Services for sponsoring two blood drives this year.
PAPA playground paid for with $15,000 grant from New York State.
The Bayview Pines meeting will take place on 10-6-06 at 7 p.m. Town Trustees and Town Clerks both new and incumbents will attend to address group.
The Suffolk County Federal Credit Union’s grand opening is on October 20, 2006 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m
The Iron Pier Park Committee meeting took place on September 21, 2006.
The Big Duck Park Committee meeting is scheduled for September 28, 2006.
Flanders Fire Department, Juniors Spaghetti Dinner is on October 14, 2006 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Adults: $8.00 Children: $5.00 Under Age 5: Free
Flanders Fire Department Open House: October 15, 2006.
LION – Long Island Organizing Network – Action Meeting will be on October 26, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the
First Baptist Church, Northville Turnpike in Riverhead as per Betty Langhorne.
Senator LaValle – Pilots $1.3 million annually for schools – for all taxpayers or prorated according to percentage of land off tax rolls.
Basic Star refund of $200.00, enhanced sum of $335.00 should be received by the end of October.
Sales tax on all clothing less than $110.00 will be eliminated.
Empire State Child Credit – Children ages 4-16, $330.00 tax break per child.
Marriage Penalty Tax eliminated.
New York State Sales Tax on gas capped at 8%.
Raffle tickets for holiday raffle to benefit scholarship and special events are available – speak with Laura Smith. The raffle will be held in December.
There will be a blood drive at the Jamesport Fire House on September 28, 2006 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
McLeod’s Mobile Home Park has an organ available for donation.
Attorney Joseph Milizio attended NWA meeting in September, he may be a possible guest speaker for FRNCA in November.
Committee Reports:
Beautification for Riverside – Signs almost completed, placement for signs discussed.
Permit paperwork for permit for sprinkler submitted.
Code Enforcement: All complaints will be addressed, it is not necessary to give names
Government: RV Transfer Tax on ballot in November for extending another ten years
KPC Planning Supervisor Kyle Collins signed off for LI40 (Old Drive-In property).
Membership Meeting to be held on October 12, 2006 at 7 p.m.
New Business:
At our next general meeting on October 23, 2006, the guest speakers will be State Assemblyman Fred Thiele and his opponent Treewolf West.
Suggested questions for both: PILOTS – Will we benefit more than Riverhead taxpayers since we have more land off the tax roles?
50/50 raffle ($43.00) won by Vicky Farrugia.
